How to clean a Leather Steering Wheel..?
Hi Guys
My steering wheel is a little shiny
I would love to know what to do to get it back to feeling (and smelling) like Nappa leather again...
Your help and advice in advance is most appreciated

For most car leather...Gliptone leather cleaner and cream takes a lot of beating.
I used it for the first time last week on my leather wheel and it came up looking like brand new

I'm a Gliptone user too and it works very well for me
We do have a leather specialist on here called judyb who'll be along shortly I'm sure.

I've used the planet polish foam cleaner and maintain products as well as the gliptone products. I prefer the foam cleaner from planet polish (this was made in conjuntion with LTT I believe but isn't completely the same as the LTT foam cleaner, but is a lot cheaper!) but I'm not a fan of their maintain product. The gliptone conditioner is much better IMO, and it gives that leather smell that you're after. I don't know if it's the fact that the gli[ptone conditioner is a cream that seems to nourish the leather, where the planet polish is a spray on, spread over type of product. The planet polish is much quicker to use but for a steering wheel I don't think that is of importance.

It is not generally recommended to use conditioners on steering wheels as they can make the leather slippy which can be dangerous. Shine on leather is usually due to the build up of dirt together with rubbing and often the build up of inappropriate cleaning products. The steering wheel in particular gets clogged with body oils from the hands.
To get rid of the sheen use a foam leather cleaner with a stiff bristled brush and the protect with a leather protector. It is important to do this on a regular basis. If the body oils are allowed ypto build up on the leather they will eventually break down the pigment and this can then be tricky to replace due to the prescence of the oils.
Hope this helps

Put a damp towel in the microwave untill hot then lay it around the steering wheel, to lift the dirt gently brush, and then apply cleaner but not any conditioner.
